About
I live in London and have close links with La Rioja, Spain. I’ve been painting in oils for 15 years and with oil and cold wax medium since 2020. I love the work of the Northern Californian and the St Ives abstract expressionists, and I was fortunate to meet Patrick Heron and later Terry Frost in West Cornwall during visits to West Cornwall. I follow the work of Melinda Cootsona, Sandy Ostrau, Kurt Jackson, Steven Heffer and Suhas Bhujbal.
Joining Cold Wax Academy, an online academy led by Jerry McLaughlin and Rebecca Crowell, has been an inspiration, providing on-going education and an international peer group, as well as the introduction to an exciting new medium. I am also a member of Sprout Community Arts, in South London and enjoying getting to know local artists.
My love of art while growing up was sidelined by a long and enjoyable career as a clinical psychologist, and, although retired from clinical work, I am continuing to write and research as an Emeritus Professor with King’s College London. I’m also realising and enjoying the close links between psychology and art.
